In the suburbs, you must have heard of Kum Kang San as one of the best Korean restaurants. If not, now you've heard about it. I have been eating Korean food all my life. Coming to USA in 2001 didn't stop me. My palate knows when it tastes a good Korean food.
Go here.
Get the short ribs, aka Kalbi (or galbi).
And then get the steamed kimchi dumplings, because I ask you to.
Then finish it off with Nang Myun, aka the cold buckwheat noodles. I implore you to get the cold soup one, not the red saucy one without the soup. When you have tried these dishes, you have now tried real, quality Korean food in Illinois. Good God, man. You know it's good Korean food when a Korean guy (who happens to cook Korean food all the time) says he likes the food there.
Do it. Go here. It's worth it. -

My favorite is their handmade giant mandoo. Have ordered several things from here over the years, but that is what I always look forward to when my mom suggests eating here.
A nice neighborhood Korean restaurant. -

The food could have been made by Grant Achatz himself but if the service doesn't change, I'm never coming back. This is coming from a Korean raised in Chicago with very low expectations for service. These people somehow exceed my very low expectations.

We love this place! My bf has been going to this place since he got a job near the place for lunch and took me to the place on the weekend for lunch. It was yummy, had great and friendly service , and felt homey. My bf ordered the bulgogi entree, I ordered the spicy tofu stew with seafood. Banchan came with the entrees , which was about 6 dishes and you get refills! We also got 2 bottles of 20 oz Hite (korean beer) - which were $6.99/bottle. The waitress was sweet and attentive. And you get a cute korean greeting when you go in and out of the place. Can't wait to go nibble some more next time!

The yelp reviews and star ratings definitely reflect my experience I had here as well. Food is mediocre and pricey.
The homemade mandoo people rave about here are good but nothing special and very expensive for what's given. I also ordered their beef and veggie stew which was good and my friends got the cold noodles which they said were just ok.
Service was horrendously slow. A lady that came in at least 15 minutes after us had already gotten her order and was out before we even got our food.
